How great thou Art

Posted on Nov 1, 2015 by in featured, Portfolio | 0 comments

Art has been defined thus: ‘the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.’ How great thou Art! The emotional impact that art generates within us is a powerful source of shifting our own emotional state. I have been awed at the artistry demonstrated in South America’s graffiti, in it’s beautiful architecture, and in the enormity and precision of it’s sculptures. I have also found creative inspiration in form and texture, in both complex and simple objects, such as those I enjoyed seeing in the fabric district in Santiago. I visited the first international quilting exhibition in Latin America and learned about the creative expressions of quilting artists. I watched and heard musicians perform their melodious art on the streets. And I created, within my means and the help of my camera, the art you see here. These are a few of my favourites pics of just a small sample of the art that has touched me.
